Good Afternoon Peter,

I also lament the loss of the once beautifully elegant Ad-Aware 1.06 SE Personal Edition, which was unwisely disgarded for the unwieldy, resource-sucking black hole monster that is Ad-Aware 2009. The good news answer to your question is 'YES!' there is a worthy replacement called "Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware". It's so good in fact that Microsoft Tech Support recommends the program to all callers whose PCs they suspect have spyware/malware infestation problems.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is available here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php and here: http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/. The program is available in both free and paid versions, but functionality is the the same except for the paid version's 'Active Anti-Malware Protection Module'. The free version is all I need or want, as Malwarebytes is a wonderfully efficient and effective forensic tool.

HTH my friend.

Kind Reagrds,
Jeffrey Ottie

Subject: [PCSOFT] Adaware

Adaware has grown from an under 2MB file to a huge 37MB behemoth. Since
definition files have been discontinue for the earlier versions, is there a
slim alternative to the new Adaware? Recommendations will be appreciated.
Thank you.
