After some prompts for additional info, here goes:

The screen is black (DOS type) and dark, then suddenly the
following
appears:

CrystalWare Audio Init . . . . .

   * Plug and Play BIOS Detected

   * SBPro: I/O = 220,   IRQ = 5,   DMA = 1

DOSKey Installed

Press any key to continue.

And when a key is pressed, the entire thing restarts as if it was
just
booting up and it ends up back at the above.

The following are provided:

Config.SYS

DOS=SINGLE
DOS=HIGH,UMB
Device=c:\windows\himem.sys
Device=c:\windows\cwdinit.exe /A

Autoexec.BAT

Set TMP=c:\windows\temp
Set TEMP=c:\windows\temp
Set Prompt=$p$g
Set WINBOOTDIR=c:\windows
Set
Classpath=.;C:\Corel\Office7\Shared\Barista;C:\Corel\Office7\Shar
ed\Truedoc
Set LD_LIBRARY_PATH=C:\Corel\Office7\Shared\Truedoc\Bin
Set
Path=C:\windows;C:\windows;c:\windows\command;c:\windows;c:\windo
ws\command;
c:\Corel\Office7\Shared\Truedoc\Bin
Set Blaster=A220 I5 D1 T4
C:\Windows\Command\DOSKEY
REM
REM The following lines have been created by Windows. DO NOT
MODIFY
THEM.
REM
C:
CD C:\DOSBoot\Gameshow\TK5\Games\Tetris
CALL C:\DOSBoot\Gameshow\TK5\Games\Tetris\TET.exe
C:\windows\win.com /W

I noticed in the above that the path statement has several
'C:\windows'
labels. I believe I can remove the duplicates, right?

When I REM'd the Change Directory and CALL C: lines towards the
end of
the autoexec.BAT file, that is when the system just recycles.

But at least do one thing. Correct me if I am wrong, but if the
system
is WIN98, then there really isn't any need for the config.sys and
autoexec.bat files unless someone truly wants to run DOS games in
DOS
mode, right? (My son's new laptop does not have anything in his
Config.sys and Autoexec.BAT files. He does have an Autoexec.BAR
file,
but text within the file indicates it is for making a DOS BOOT
DISK!
And since it is a .BAR extension, it won't execute at startup,
right?)
So do I really need these two files (as constructed) or are they
designed just for DOS games?
