What about selecting the files you want to back up, and then see how many
CD's it wants.

Subject: [PCSOFT] Backing up Hard drive
> Good afternoon Listers: I'm running Win XP Pro on my machine and, I
thought this would be a good time to back up my one and only hd. I've got
Nero Burn installed so,, I opened it up and went to the "back up hd"
selection in the tools menu and, set everything up. When it gave me the
amount of blank CD'S that would be required, I almost fell outta my chair.
It said (66 blanks needed). I've got a 40gig hd with about 5gigs being used
including OS. Is there any way to back up what is actually installed on the
hd without recording blank space using Nero and, still be able to restore it
if need be? I want to be able to create a free standing backup that will
self boot and proceed on it's own install instructions or, am I just pipe
dreaming? Thanks in advance if anyone out there has any answers. Ed Bogert
