Gary,
HyperTerminal does not have any means of encrypting messages.
HOWEVER, because you are on a point to point connection (you
dial directly into the bank), there is little need for
security on your end of the connection.
Direct banking is not like using the internet. The messages do
not remain in an unknown and uncontrollable router cache or
communications buffer for hours at a time. Someone would need
to put a wire tap on your telephone AND know when you intend
to call the bank.
