I can't think what you did, but if 'Control Panel' is still accessible, go
to 'system' then 'system restore'.

Subject: [PCSOFT] Where did all my programs go-at least the icons?

I have been doing some tweaking of my system, etc., but nothing I would even

consider would cause this problem. I am running XP with classic start menu.
When I hit Start, some of the icons for programs that were there before are
gone. Even more puzzling is that when I do Start/Programs, still more icons
are missing. "Accessories" is totally gone, along with Notepad, calculator,
et al, although games remain. Microsoft Office is MIA, although it is still
in the list of programs that pops up when I hit start.

Only time will tell which other program icons have disappeared, but surely
there are a lot. About the only thing I can think of that I did related to
the start button was to drag the "my computer" icon to the start menu to
make it easier to access via the start button.

What did I do, and more importantly, how do I fix?
