Although there are some student management programs available, your need
does not require the expense and complexity of such a system. You could
simply create some batch files to distribute and gather the needed files.
Each student station would need to share a drive or directory where the
files need to be placed.

Let me know if you don't know how to write batch files to do this.

The teacher would like to be able to send the same document to each
system on the network, several times a day. Each student in each of her
several classes could then retrieve their applicable document. Being
able to retrieve and delete each document would also be preferable. For
example, each student would save a document such as doc2jdoe.doc, and
the teacher could then retrieve the document using the "doc2" with an
"*" for the last four characters which would represent the student's
name.
