I am trying to install Roxio / EZCD 5.0 Platinum on a HP Pavilion 6738
desktop. There has never been a burner on this PC. Other then a new
Lite-on burner, an external Xerox workstation and an external HP Photo
Scanner, the Pavilion has original hardware.
The problem is when EZCD setup starts up, it says it has detected an older
version of EZCD that must be removed prior to this install. Of course there
has not been a burner installed on this PC and there is no older version of
any burner software other then the one that comes with Windows Media
Manger. However I went ahead and removed that utility.
I also went to the Roxio site and followed their uninstall / install
instructions which included removing suspect files, cleaning up the
registry of Adaptec entries and removing Adaptec folders. Step by step, I
worked through the manual uninstall routine as if there had been a previous
install.
Next I followed the instructions for a specialized startup and clean ME
boot prior to install. Nothing has helped. I can't get beyond that screen.
I don't know why the setup routine can't tell me specifically what is
stopping it, ... but there it is.
Has anybody seen this problem? Any solutions?
