I did this, and I reinstalled every single driver I had related to all the
changes I've made, but nothing seemed to do it.

I finally fixed up this problem by installing the WRONG driver (for a RAGE
LT PRO AGP X2 instead of a RAGE IIc... go figure!)

So everything is fine, now, but I don't understand why the "real" driver is
not functionning properly.
