Subject:IE5.5 Auto complete

Hello, I am running Win98ME with IE 5.5.  I always use to be able to enter
web addresses while holding "Control" and this would automatically put in
the www and .com. This no longer works and I must type the complete address.
I have web addresses turned on in tools: auto complete.  Please advise.
