There are several ways to do this, but in my humble opinion, the best way to stop any program from
trying to access the Internet is by using Zone Alarm. It's a free program that gives you control of
what can and cannot access the net - especially the programs that run in the background. It's
important to read the instructions because you must give permission for any program that tries to
access, including mail and IE. You can find the program at www.zonelabs.com
