I simply copied the outlook.pst file to the new location and opened it as a
secondary data file using Outlook 2010. You may have to rename the old file
to something like outlook2003.pst to distinguish it from your new Outlook
data file. Once opened, the contents of the old folders can be dragged and
copied or moved to the new data file. When you are done, you can close the
old data file, or keep it open for reference.

Is there a way to transfer some or all of the e-mail folders and Contacts I
have in Outlook 2003 on one laptop (WIN XP Home) to another laptop (WIN 7,
64 bit) that has Outlook 2010?
