You do NOT need MSIE4. IE4 is a web browser, it has nothing
to do with the format of a hard drive.
Windows 98 has a conversion utility that can make this easier,
BUT from my experiences, it is very difficult to get a "clean"
upgrade from Win95 to 98 on older systems and you would end up
deleting everything and reformatting the drive anyway. So....
You can convert to FAT 32 with what you already own.
Here is a general outline describing the steps for Windows95B:
1. Backup/copy ALL important data files.
2. Create a bootable floppy disk which includes *both* the
FDISK and FORMAT commands from C:\windows\command.
3. REboot the PC using the floppy.
4. Execute FDISK and delete the existing partitions.
5. REboot the PC again.
6. Rerun FDISK and create a new partition that includes the
entire hard drive.
7. Follow the directions withing FDISK.
8. Reboot the PC and execute the FORMAT C: /S command.
9. Reinstall Windows and all your applications.
A third option is to purchase a program called Partition Magic.
This will allow you to convert your drive to FAT32 without the
need to erase and reinstall everything.
