The DirectX 8.1 DirectX 8 interface init failures still occurred even when
my AMD Athlon was running at 900 mhz. It wasn't due to overclocking.
My processor is very stable when overclocked to 1.05 ghz (1050mhz), as long
as I set the VCore to +0.075V. The DirectX 8.1 DirectX 8 Direct3D interface
testing init failure was not resolved until yesterday, when I installed
Detonator 27.42 "leaked" (unofficial), then voila! all the Direct3D tests
were successful. Get Detonator 27.42 at www.guru3d.com

Even the 23.11 Detonators failed.

But, unfortunately, under Project 64, with 23.11 and later, anisotrophic
filtering is unavailable.
