Yes. I ran it on 286/12 with 20 Mb HD. (that PC/AT is still alive!)
But if you can find DOS with lower version it will take up less of
precious memory and scarce hard disk resources of 286's.
You can look for free DOS replacements, OPENDOS being an example. (it is
100% compatible with M$-DOS).
