  Right-click on desktop and choose Properties, or Start -> Settings
-> Control Panel -> Display.

  Select "Appearance" tab.

  Pull-down "Item" to select "Icon Spacing (Horizontal)" or "Icon
SPacing (Vertical)".

  Edit the numeric value.

  Click "Save As..." and name this display scheme.
