My problem is difficult to explain because I really don't understand
what has happened.
Recently I downloaded a program entitled 'AVANTRIX Utilities Suite,'
which was supposed to clean hard disks; identify changes made by program
installations, and other things. I didn't like the program and tried to
uninstall it. And that's when I ran head first into major problems.
First, I endeavored to eliminate part of the Utilities Suite through the
'Settings > Control Panel > Remove' function of Win98 but that was only
partially successful.
I then used Norton's Clean Sweep to remove the balance of the program -
and immediately ran into big problems. It appears that when AVANTRIX
made comparisons 'before' program installation and 'after' program
installation, it clung to the compared DLLs and incorporated them into
the AVANTRIX program, possibly for future use. Clean Sweep, of course,
would not allow the uninstallation of DLLs used by other programs. As a
consequence, while the original AVANTRIX .exe download was 4.2 MB, that
program now takes up an incredible 136 MB on my hard drive!
Here's my question - is there a simple way to uninstall Utilities Suite
without eliminating the DLLs used by other programs?
Any suggestions will be gratefully received (and it'll make my computer
happy too!).
