I use an alternative pdf reader called "Foxit" that I like much better than Adobe. I have it set as my default reader now. There is a free and a paid version. You can highlight and comment. It seems to be more versatile and is not always trying to "phone home." www.foxitsoftware.com

These options are not shown on my computer where mentioned. I assume it's
because I'm using classic view instead of catagory view but can't find where to
change the view type.

Hi,
you will find the setting just below "control panel" in the START menu
in other words..... start/set program access & defaults/non-microsoft.
You can also access via control panel/add--remove programs. on the lefthand
pane you will get "set program access & defaults". click on this and since
you wish to set default for your browser(opera) click on "non-microsoft".
