Any of these boxes can be set independently, and the values are:

read-only : this file can not be overwritten (however it can be
edited and saved_as)

archive: used by backup software to make incremental backups. You
should not change this bit

hidden: you won't see this file in File Manager. Some other programs
will allow you to see it, but it will usually have a different color or
other marking. System and important files can be marked this way.

system: this file can not be moved from its physical location. For
example the system boot files, io.sys and msdos.sys, have these
attributes. This is mostly used by defragmenting software since it will
not move around any files with this attribute set.

> When you look at properties of any program, then look at attributes, I would like to know the difference between the 4 boxes: read only, Archive, Hidden and system. Also should one of these boxes be checked at all times and can 2 or more be checked? Thanks to all for any information!
