<<< thanks for your reply.your suggestion did not work,on right click-proprties-uncheck read only-apply-ok,this message pops up.an error occurred applying atributes to the file: d:\ address book 29th feb 07.wab access is denied.then four options.ignore, ignore all, retry or cancel.i have tried all these options, nothing works.i'm starting to wonder that if the address book stil exists in outlook express, this could be the other application that needs to be closed,ie deleted.any more clues please?>>>

Hi,
(1) sorry i am not clear how it got "exported" as .wab file? the default is always as text file (.csv) unless of course you have copy/pasted.
(2) did you save the data in the cd to your hard drive and THEN try to change the attribute?? if "yes" then the only reason for "access denied" error msg. is perhaps multiple identities are involved....
(3) while i am unable to give a specific fix for the problem perhaps you will find the following links useful.

 http://tinyurl.com/yqgrlc
 http://tinyurl.com/2yyynb

perhaps others on the list may have some clues

good luck---Venkat
