Ira,

Save the files as GIF it's the smallest file size format.  If you need
more details then reread the answers from the question you asked last
week.

If you change the file type to DOC you still will not be able to edit the
file.  Changing the file name or extension does not change the kind of
file or the contents.  It is only a "picture".  You need to read your
scanner manual and/or the help files to find out more about OCR -optical
character recognition.
