  This is a very low-level error, generally indicating the sort of program
bug that is supposed to be fixed before the software ever gets into the
hands of users.

  A "semaphore" is one of several special OS features made available to
programs to support multi-tasking and shared access to resources such as
files.  It provides a way of coordinating access so that multiple programs
do not "step on each other's toes".
  Something that is running at startup is, from the OS's perspective, doing
something no sane program should do.
  Since legitimate software would never have been released in that
condition, my suspicion is that either some piece of the OS has become
corrupted, or some malware/spyware/virus is interfering with normal
operation of your system.
  Can you boot to safe mode?

  What any of this has to do with "sleep mode" escapes me....
