Barb, I don't think you'll get much joy with NAV 2004 on W98.

And from my own experience, plus what I've read on the net, you wouldn't do much better trying to run it with XP - this latest offering from Symantec is a something of a lemon.

I tried to get it going on a 1ghz W98SE machine without success and didn't do much better on an 2.4Ghz XPPro pc.

But even if you do get it running, this version now has Product Activation, (a la WinXP), but which isn't working properly. Some NAV 2004 owners are finding they need to reactivate the product after 25 boots.

My advice would be to go back to NAV 2003.

Personally, I've found Norton AV or the last couple of years to be getting steadily more clumsy and ponderous. There are much better AV progs around now - almost all of the main brands are achieving close to 100% results in lab tests.

I tried to install Norton AV 2004 on my brother's computer this week and am having nothing but trouble with the computer since installing it.
