David,
When you are in the Detailed View, check to make sure that the Titles for
the file name column is "Name" and not "Size", or "Type" or
"Modified".  The columns widths can get moved over so far to the left that
they cover up the columns.  TO fix. move your cursor over the title
"button" starting on the right and move toward the left until it first
turns into a double arrow ( sort of like  <-||->  ), then click and drag
the column to the right.  That should do it.
