Hello,
I have just installed Outlook 97 (running under Win95a) and configured it
to use Internet mail. So far so good. In the properties dialog I have set
up my name etc and servers and everything works fine except that I do not
see how to get the program to prompt me for my POP3 password when I log
into my mail account. It has a spot in the properties dialog to have me
enter my login name and password all right, but what if I do NOT want an
AUTOMATIC login (i.e. I DO NOT want it to "remember" my password. As long
as it supplies my login name and password every time, then what kind of
security is that - this means that anyone using my computer has access to
my incoming mail and my server password is worthless.
I have tried not supplying the password in the aforementioned properties
dialog, and sure enough, when I next log in it tells me it has a problem
logging in, and it prompts me to supply the missing password. GOOD!
However, once I do that the first time, the damn program "remembers" the
password again and I am back to square one.
I cannot believe that such a sophisticated program could have omitted such
a basic security feature, so I feel I must be missing something very obvious.
Can someone please tell me how to configure the mail login so that I HAVE
to give my password manually every time I log in?
Thanks in advance,
Michael
