This is easy. You need to separate the whole number from the fraction. Excel
has the function INT that will extract the whole number part. Thus, if you
have 12.7 in cell A5, then in cell B5 you could enter =INT(A5) and you will
see only the whole number 12. To get the fraction, just subtract the whole
number form the original and you will have 0.7 in this case. Converting the
fraction to a whole number, however, depends on how you enter the pounds
portion if it is greater than 9. How do you differentiate between 1 pound
and 10 pounds?

Hope this helps you get going.

I keep a track of weight in an Excel spreadsheet. For years I have entered
it in stones and pounds like so:

12.7 (means 12 stone 7 pounds)

I'd like to convert it to pounds in the next cell/column. But of course 12.7
means quite a different thing in Excel! ... is there a formula that will
convert it to pounds ... a formula that will convert 12.7 to 175 lbs.

Hope you guys can help
