There are better programs than Adobe for reading pdf - one is FREE Foxit PDF Reader (small and fast). Another is FREE PDF X-Change Viewer, which lets you highlight and insert "post-it" notes and paragraphs.

http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/reader/
http://pdf-xchange-viewer.en.softonic.com/

In Windows Explorer - Folder Options - Filetypes, change PDF file extensions to open with whichever app you choose.

A great little FREE app called MWSnap will let you copy/clip images from pdfs (or from ANY app, ANYwhere on your screen) and save them as jpg, png, or whatever you want, as well as putting them in the clipboard at the same time (if you have it configured to do that) for pasting into Word or Wordpad, etc. I use this constantly all day long, for clipping and saving confirmations, orders, receipts, clips from articles, all sorts of stuff - especially things I want to keep a record of.

http://www.mirekw.com/winfreeware/mwsnap.html

Take the time to understand and configure it and you can press one key (the one you configured), drag to outline a rectangle anywhere on your screen, then a window will popup asking for a name for the file (if you so configured it), save it in the folder you configured as the MWSnap pics folder, (or you can close the little popup and just paste it into Word or Wordpad (or other word processors, such as Jing or OpenOffice.org) from the clipboard).

It will be saved with the name you specify in the "naming popup" (unless you just close the popup), in the folder you configured as the MWSnap save folder, as the type of file you configured, and (if you configured it to do so) also placed a copy in the Windows Clipboard. Take the time to understand the configuration. MWSnap can do a lot, but I opted for a single simple function: always dragging a rectangle when I press F8, saving the file as .jpg IF I give it a name (or not IF I just close the naming popup), keeping the MWSnap application closed/minimized to the system tray, and also putting the image in the Windows clipboard. Drag a link for the MWSnap pics folder to a place easy to get to - desktop, start menu, quicklaunch bar (right-click and drag the folder you configured as the MWSnap save folder to where you want your shortcut to be and choose "create shortcuts here").

For some reason, it doesn't paste from the clipboard into an O.E. email - but you can first paste it into MS Word (any version), then copy it from there to the clipboard and it will paste into an O.E. email. I have no idea why this is necessary. You can, of course, IMPORT the saved jpg into Word or ATTACH the saved jpg (or the Word doc containing the image) into an O.E. email.

Hi Michael,

If you have the full version of Adobe, you can extract the pictures as part of the
program,,unless they are locked or password protected.
However, if you just have the Reader, the only programs I know of
are: Some PDF Image Extract Free
http://www.somepdf.com/some-pdf-image-extract.html
I tried this one,but it didn't work for me,although I've read several comments from
people who claim it works well.Maybe it'll work for you ;)
Same comments for the next one .

ExtractJPGfromPDF Free
http://www.nirmaltv.com/2008/09/27/extract-images-from-pdf-files-using-extractjpgfrompdf/

http://www.rlvision.com/pdfwiz/about.asp
PDF IMAGE EXTRACTION WIZARD $9.95

Of course, you could always take screenshots of the pictures and use them as wallpaper.
