Hi All: My desktop operating system (Win 98 2se) is all messed up. It boots up OK, but will not shutdown. Also, control panel problem--When I click on Icon, nothing happens. I can fix this by running SpyBot-S&D and "fixing" a Registry entry as follows:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\open\command\="%1"%*

After "fixing" I can go to control panel and click on any or all icons and get to the next level. I can also shut down the computer like I used to.
When I next restart the computer the problem is back.

This problem started with a virus ---opas wrm--- but I thought my Avast program had gotten rid of it. Do I need to reformat? I've tried reloading Win 98 2 or 3 times.

Thanks in advance-----------Joe
