At least one anti-virus package will get rid of that virus: AVP. You can
download a demo version from http://www.avp.ch. While the virus is
potentially dangerous, as is any virus, the odds of this one actually doing
any damage to your system on the 26th or 27th of any month, any other month,
or April 26th or 27th are almost negligible because the kind of programmable
BIOSes that computers use today are not writeable in the way that this virus
attacks (according to the experts at IBM).
Old systems may be much more susceptable. Besides, the fact that it IS a
virus makes it something to eliminate, of course.
As Bob mentioned earlier, he and I had a bout of this one. You do need to
make sure that you scan every single executable file that you have or you'll
find yourself back in trouble again.
