<< This is a new pc with Win 2000 Professional. When typing in Word or composing Email, the pc will sometimes stall. It will usually return to normal after about 30 seconds. The pc will also lock up at times when attempting to close a window or delete/select Email. In these cases if ctrl alt del is used and task manager is selected, a notation is shown that states "CPU usage 100%". End task will usually return the pc to desktop, but not always...sometimes must reboot.>>

If you are using Word 2000, the following article should be of interest to you. When you click on the link, select #1 in the news letter, "SDI Blues". It is from the Langalist. It explains that (only) with Word2000, every time you open a new document, it opens a new program! It continues.... When AutoRecover re-saves each file every X minutes, it uses computer resources and slows down the computer. If the user has 15 files open and a 5 minute AutoRecover update setting, this can slow-down the computer every 20 seconds.

  I think I'll stick with Word 97!
