I know how to insert a music track of a CD to run on a slide in powerpoint.
How do you program the music to play continuously during the slideshow
without it stopping. My father-in-law is stumped and so am I. Any help
will be appreciated.

Once you've inserted your music track, right click on it and go to
Custom Animation. On the Multimedia tab, you can set the sound
to play using animation order and set the slide number after which
you'd like the track to stop playing. Using the More options button,
you can set the track to loop until stopped.
This is in PowerPoint from Office 2000. The look and manner
of 'engaging' these settings is a bit different under PowerPoint
from Office XP (and I suspect Office 2003), but these are
animation settings and you should be able to "stumble across"
them by some combination of right click menus with the track
object selected.
