In Windows 9x and ME, resources cannot be increased. Win NT, 2K and XP
don't have resource problems.

The thing in Eudora that uses a lot of resources is the number of tabs that
are showing at the bottom of your screen (In box, Out Box, your named
mailboxes, address book, etc.) Each tab uses almost as many resources as
a separate instance of Eudora so if you have 6 tabs showing, it is almost
like having 6 copies of Eudora open. You should have only the minimum
number of tabs showing that are absolutely necessary. Netzero and Netscape
are two other applications that use a lot of resources.

If you use incoming filters to put your mail in a lot of mailboxes, and
have the setting to Open Mailboxes in the Getting Attention in the OPTIONS,
you can run out of resources when checking mail or when mail is
received. This is because the extra tabs being opened are using resources
and you can run out while checking mail.

When using Win 98, I always make sure that I close Netscape before running
Eudora and always kept the Resource Meter minimized to the systray so I
could see when I started running low. You may also have background
programs that use a lot of resources.

I liked Eudora enough that I used it in spite of the problems it
caused. Now that I'm on Win 2K most of the time, I don't have those problems.
