Cyrix introduced their M1 (6x86) chip just before Microsoft finalised
their Win95 test for CPU type, and the latter checks for at least one
"flag" that isn't set by default in that generation of Cyrix chips. I
don't recall the name, but there's a little utility you can run in
AUTOEXEC.BAT which flips the flag so that Windows now recognizes it as
pentium class.
