This one is fairly easy. The default document settings are contained in the
normal.dot file. Just create a new version of normal.dot with the settings
you want and save it. You will find this file in the Templates directory -
wherever you have it set to on your system. On my computer (Windows 2000),
the location is "C:\Documents and Settings\Peter Shkabara\Application
Data\Microsoft\Templates".

Here is how you can make a new version. In Word, select File/New and choose
Normal.dot as the base document and be sure to check Template in the "Create
New" section at the lower right. When the document window opens, press
control-A to select the entire document, then choose the font you wish to be
the default. Make any additional changes such as margins and toolbar
settings - then save the template using a new name. Exit Word and start
Windows Explorer. Go to the location of your templates, and rename your
normal.dot to something like normal.bak - then rename the new template you
saved to be normal.dot. This is the way I do it - there might be a simpler
way, but I don't know it.

How can I change my font permanently on Microsoft Word? I have Windows 98.
Right now the font automatically comes on in New Times Roman 10 and I want
it to come up in Arial 14. I know that I can change it each time but I would
like to set it permanently.
Hope someone can help me.
