Barbara,
There are many things that can cause this. Help is normally slow to open
because it is a large program (And by Microsoft). It could be that your
resources are being stretched too far. Try closing all open programs
before trying to open the help window. Also some other program may be
conflicting with help (another good reason to close all open programs
before trying help.) Another possibility is that help has become inoperable
due to a corruption of the code. (That would require reinstalling Windows,
so I hope that's not it.) Also you could try going into the "SAFE" mode and
then see if it runs. If it runs there, the code is ok.
