Hello, I have a computer problem, hope u can help.

I have windows 2000 professional and dail-up. Everytime I get on the internet, I get a message that says

"svchost.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. An error log is being created."

Then I press ok and then it won't let you click on anything that you need to open up.
I don't understand what and why this is happening.
