The short answer is, move the older version into a save
folder, run your applications normally for a few weeks and
see if anything odd occurs, such an error message regarding
the missing DLL. If everything runs well for a month, then
you can delete the DLL from the save folder.
With exact duplicates both the Windows & the Windows\System
directories are in the search path so either one can be
placed into the save folder, if removing one causes
problems, put it back and try the other. Some applications
want the DLL in a specific location, while others will use
it from anywhere.
