Gary,
You need the TWEAKUI toys/tools or a third party program like Nuts & Bolts.
They will allow you to HIDE the icon, but you can not delete it.
You did not say what OS you have. If you have Win95, then you need to
download the toys from the MS site or somewhere like www.download.com. If
you have Win98, then the toys are on your CD.
