There's no *general* answer to your question, but many "uninstaller"
packages include utilities to compare the system before and after a
package is installed and list the changes that were made. You may find
stand-alone shareware/freeware utilities that do this as well; at the
other end of the spectrum, the Systems Management Server included in MS
BackOffice can do this for NT networks.
