You did not say what operating system you are using and if drive D is a
network or local drive. The solution that was used at several colleges where
I taught was to give students accounts on a networked system and they would
then have their own network drive to use. No other student would have access
to it.

If the computers are not on a network, and you are using windows XP, then
you could create a user account on the computer with password protection. A
networked solution is much better because it does not require the student to
use a specific computer.

An alternate solution that you may consider is for each student to purchase
a USB thumb drive to use. That way the work they save would be taken by them
to use at home or any other place they may need it at. Of course, there will
then be some problems with students forgetting to take their USB drive with
them, but this has worked well at my last college.

Good luck.

Hello, I am a teacher in a certain university and we have some concerns. We
have deep freeze installed on all computers in our laboratory (to avoid
viruses) which is enabled only on drive C. We've created a drive D
partition for the students to place their work so that when they come back,
they could still review and change their work. But we have some troublesome
students here, and all they do is delete those folders (since the laboratory
have several classes in a day) giving headache to the original owners. Do
we have any application available such that a student could safely secure
his/her working folder? Encrypting or decrypting the folder will show that
folder and could be deleted easily by the others. Hoping for your advise.
Thank you
