 Open Quicktime player go to..... edit-preferences-quicktime preferences,
click on mime settings
then check which file types you want quicktime to play
Make sure "play movies automatically" is checked if you want the movies
to play in a browser window.
you can also adjust quicktime file associations from the drop down menu on
the quicktime preferences applet.
