Computer: Dell Laptop Inspiron 7000
Operating System: Windows 98
I purchased and received five Dell laptop Inspiron 7000s. The computers had
Windows 98 and Microsoft Office 97.2 Small Business Edition preloaded. My
office requires the use of Access which is not part of the Small Business
Edition. I uninstalled the Small Business Edition, then I install Office 97
Professional. All the applications worked except Access. When I tried to
run Access, I got the following message. "Microsoft Access can't start
because there is no license for it on this machine." This happened on all
five machines. The Office Pro software is legal and a full version, not an
upgrade. When installed on a desktop computer it works fine. I have removed
it and used Microsoft's eraser utility program to remove everything from the
registry and then I reinstalled with no luck. There must be an old file that
I am missing, but I cannot find it. I called Dell and they said it must be a
Microsoft problem. Has anyone had this problem and if so is there a way to
fix it without reformatting and starting over
from scratch.
Thanks
William Hanson
