I think what "Thomas" is saying is he can't save pdf files, not the
download of Reader. And it seems it's easier in 6.0 to save than it
was in earlier versions.
Thomas, there should be a button on the topleft of the screen that
says "Save a Copy" with the disk icon. Perhaps your download
wasn't complete or is corrupt? I got my copy from a CD, so didn't
have to pick and choose and risk having the download interrupted.
Also, you can always right click on the pdf file before opening it and
choose "Save Target As" and open it at your leisure.
