Since this is my first post here, I hope you'll bear with me.
My mom's Compaq 450 Mhz,  56K computer is not quite 2 years old.
The problem is that it is ex-treme-ly slow.  I spend most of my
time waiting for sites to open up.  I use IE 5.5 and recently
updated Windows, do maintenance regularly,  performance runs
about +/- 50% (up from 12%!!!!).  Downloading is a nightmare due
to getting knocked off line continuously. Msn is the ISP. My question is......do you believe that re-installing Windows 98 can possibly
clear up what ails this PC?  If so, how to do it?....any pitfalls?..
..any tips? I've re-installed Netscape and IE, but never Windows.
Please help, I'm at my wits end with this.
