I got some 17 responses from this PC Q&A Form

and another 20 or so responses from this PCBUILD 

List Server which carried the same question. 

Let me just say there are a lot of sharp people out

there.  I certainly learned a lot just reading your

responses.  Most of the 37 responses voted as follows:

 

Pri Ch.  CD-ROM (Slave)       HD    (Master)

Sec Ch.    Zip  (Slave)   CD-Burner (Master)

 

The  reason seems obvious *now* . This arrangement

facilitates Streaming Data between the Burner and the

ROM, and for those interested in creating/using bootable

CDs.  (As you might expect, Shelly was right again).
