I am not sure that it is equivalent, because it can actually be much more
powerful, but check out the "QuickWords" feature.  It is in the Tools
drop-down menu.  I can type "\fax" and it creates a form fax cover sheet.
"\agt" becomes "agreement"; "\close" becomes my letter closing; "\fee"
becomes my Fee Schedule for clients; etc. etc.
