Have you tried running SFC from the run command? This may restore the
missing files, or you can extract them there as well.

i recently opened what appeared to be a 'trusted' .exe file in outlook
express and was infected with the magistrate win32 virus on my laptop and,
after using houseclean online virus scan, deleted two of my win32 files--one
was win32\spool and the another was the win32\tapi file? (they were listed
as 'uncleanable').
Subsequently, I have been unable to reconnect to my networked printer (or
local printer for that matter). I've looked for ways to download/repair my
win32 missing files (i assume this is what it needs?), but do not see a fix
in sight. When I try to install a printer, an open port is not recognized
and am instructed to restart the computer.
Should i try to 'restore the registry?"

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
