That's the action of a virus which has been around in various forms for a
long time---the L-Sass worm if memory serves me correctly.

Some variations have the ability to defeat McAfee and Nortons, so you
should go to one of the online a-v sites such as Trend Micro or Housecall
and do an on-line scan.
