Sounds like something WE ALL should be doing - creating a recovery disk. Not to sound stupid, but what do I do to creat one?

Thanks, Carole - Snowbirding in CA from B.C.

  Hi Dorothy,

Sorry to say, it appears that during installation of Norton Antivirus, your
system files were damaged. The only solution now is to fix the damaged
files. There are several ways that this could be done. Did you happen to
create a recovery disk for your system? It would help if you did, but few of
us do it (including myself).

Others on this list may have additional suggestions, but I would recommend
that you get your Win XP disk out and boot from it. Then go through the
installation process, selecting that you want to repair your system. DO NOT
install a new copy of XP as that would destroy your settings. That should be
done only as a last resort, or if you don't care about losing your software
settings. Note: if you lose your settings, you will need to reinstall all of
your application software!

Let us know if you need more detailed instructions. Have a Happy
Thanksgiving - and good luck.

Peter

-----Original Message-----

Can anyone help me sort out my lap top? I have an HP running Windows XP pro.
I paid for and downloaded Norton Antivirus 2007 from Symantic, and was
installing the files when an error message came up, unable to install. The
program went through an investigation after which it again said it was
unable to install and to close the installation page.
Then my lap top came up with the following message.
STOP: Coooo21a {Fatal System Error}. The session manager initialisation
system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of Ox000003a
()x00000000 Ox0000000).
