I ran a complete virus check on my computer tonight. As expected, there were no viruses detected. However, there were some files that the virus checker could not open and I got the following message:
File Name Type Message
C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\INSTALL\BASE2.CAB File Fail to scan file (-82,The Compressed file is corrupted)
Fail to scan -82 was common on everything that would not scan. I suspect that this was caused when I interrupted an installation of IE 5.0. (That was when I realized I had 5.5 and did not want 5.0 -- since that time I have not been able to add components to 5.5). So if "File -82" is corrupt - what can I do about it? Am I going to to reformat my hard drive (please tell me it ain't so!). Thank you for any advice.
