Thanks to all for your responses. I tried , successfully, the first
suggestion "Go to MyComputer\Dial-Up Networking and find Connections on the
menu bar,
then Settings. Uncheck the box that calls for a prompt for information
before dialling."

I also am pursuing all other suggestions to refresh my dusty mind.
